Since we are in full swing of the Winter season, it's important to know how to care for your complexion to keep your skin moisturized and protected during the harsher, drier months of the year. There are practical things you can incorporate into your daily routine, as well as spa-quality treatments that will maintain the health of your complexion when it's cold outside and the weather is shifting. Drink Lots of Water

The colder it gets outside, the drier your skin will feel. To combat this, you'll need to drink a lot of water. Take a refillable water bottle with you to work in the mornings so you can save money and the environment by not having to continue to buy new bottles. Room temperature water is best, since it won't lower your body temperature by being too cold or upset your stomach if it's too hot. All-natural spring water is best, since the water is often fortified with minerals that will benefit your body. Water also removes toxins from the body and will give your complexion a glow that indicates good health.

 

Use DIY Facial Masks

The winter season can cause dryness and peeling, so making some effective facial masks at home from natural ingredients can definitely come in handy.

A simple mask of mashed avocado and olive oil does wonders for your complexion by supplying your pores with moisture and getting rid of peeling. Oatmeal also works as a natural exfoliant to remove dead cells and keep your face glowing. Ground oatmeal can be added to avocado for an effective mask that helps to cut down on blemishes and keep the complexion moisturized. Protect Your Skin

Don't stop using sunscreen just because it's cold outside. The sun is still shining even though it's not summer, which means that you're still exposed to harmful UV rays. The sun can also dry your complexion, which will likely be even more noticeable during the colder months. Choose a sunscreen that is at least 30 SPF for best results.
