The superstar component of Blue Velvet Beauty Balm is Japanese Indigo extract which has been used for centuries and is widely recognized for its restorative and soothing properties as well as its brilliant hue. In fact, during the Edo Period, Japanese samurai wore several layers of indigo-dyed cotton beneath their armour to help heal their injuries. Indigo's active ingredients provide outstanding anti-inflammatory relief and strengthens the skin's barrier while also inhibiting irritation; this means that conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, adult acne, damaged skin, aging skin and excessive dryness won't stand a chance against this impressive ingredient!
We've also added Helichrysum oil, also known as Immortelle oil, because we love how it protects and heals stressed, damaged and inflamed skin while it moisturizes. Helichrysum is anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial as well as one of the few botanical oils that contains diketones which aids in diminishing scar tissue and helps to stimulate the growth of new skin cells. Sounds pretty great, huh? But wait, there's more: Pomegranate seed oil is such a rockstar when it comes to penetrating deeply into the skin and enhancing the skin's texture that we just HAD to add it to our Blue Velvet Beauty Balm formula. Plus pom seed oil has a high concentration of ellagic acid (an antioxidant also found in raspberries) which is known to help prevent skin cancer, UV damage and the formation of wrinkles. Sounds like the perfect anti-aging oil, doesn't it? We think so too! And have you heard about Murumuru butter? It's pressed from the fruits of the Astrocaryum Murumuru tree, a tall palm native to Brazil and other regions of the Amazon. It's got a unique combination of essential fatty acids and Pro-Vitamin A to help restore elasticity to damaged skin, soothe dry, cracked skin and lock in moisture. (Yes, we've added that to the formula too!)
